Hi, I’m Avery.

My wife and I got married young — high school sweethearts — and we’re now raising our son together. She stays home with him, and building Bluegrass Forge on the side is my way of helping make that possible without stepping away from my full-time engineering career.

This started as a favor. I’d built plenty of websites before, but the first one that was actually real — the kind where someone can land on it, enter their card, and buy something, with everything else a real business needs around it — was for my mother-in-law’s business, Sapphire of Surfside. Finishing it made something click — I had a skill people around here actually needed. I’d walk into local businesses all the time, ones doing genuinely good work, and come away wishing their website did them justice. Outdated design, a contact form that didn’t work, hours that hadn’t been updated in years.

Western Kentucky has no shortage of businesses that deserve more customers than they’re getting. An elegant, functional website is one lever a lot of them just haven’t pulled yet — not because they don’t care, but because it’s never been anyone’s job to fix it. I want to be that person.

However small the project, I treat it like it matters, because it does — to you, and to me. All you really have is your word, and I’d rather under-promise on a $600 site than cut a corner on a $10,000 one.

Outside of work, I’m a Christ-follower, pretty serious about fitness, and — when I can steal an hour — bad at Rocket League and Forza Horizon.
